So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
any telltale signs of layoffs in tiger?
So, lay off until the pandemic blows over.

All good homie! You’re in tech at BCG? Like tech consulting or something else?

You can read the article just by having a free account.
Why? Are they just trying to fit in a benchmark for Big Tech? I can see Twitter and Meta tanking, but Amazon seemed fine. What is this mimicking one another idiocy?

BC1, that’s why I said, “under 1%”. Here’s a little more on the breakdown given from the article:
“The number of layoffs remains fluid and is likely to roll out team by team rather than all at once as each business finishes plans, one person said. But if it stays around 10,000, it would represent roughly 3 percent of Amazon’s corporate employees and less than 1 percent of its global work force of more than 1.5 million, which is primarily composed of hourly workers.
Amazon’s planned retrenchment during the critical holiday shopping season — when the company typically has valued stability — shows how quickly the souring global economy has put pressure on it to trim businesses that have been overstaffed or underdelivering for years.”
The focus will be technology and corporate, not warehouse workers.
Paywall
Damn paywall
Where is the option to select reader mode? Sorry if this is too obvious, can’t seem to see it
Looks like 10,000 is the magic number
Interestingly already said none would be at HQ2 and AWS is expected to escape unscathed as well
This has been coming since warehouse pay went above $9/hr
NYT, BW, Bloomberg and Ft have all reported HQ2 is not impacted
Is it just insane to be thinking about looking for a new job now? Might apply to a major healthcare org, if that matters. Feels like it’s about to be rough sledding for my team … but the devil you know, etc.
No I’m I’m jumping in 12 days!
These tech companies seem very bloated to me with 10s of thousands of people on the company dime…
