Doubtful. But use it as a learning experience.
Try not to take it personal and ask why, where you’re falling short, and how they can help you meet their expectations (ask about course/training, etc). Show genuine interest and openness to evolve.
The more you defend and deflect, the more likely you’ll be on the outs IMHO.
I’ll elaborate more after I get fired. But, no I’m not an asshole. I’m great to work with subjectively speaking. Professionally and personally.
This also happened to me.
If it’s a no warning PIP—they likely don’t want you to beat it. A PIP should never be a surprise (according to many HR people/managers I spoke to).
A team that actually supports you and operates with integrity would give warning, timeframe, and clear goals that can be achieved.
Update your stuff. Look for jobs. Do the best you can. Record everything. Save everything. May the force be with you.
Do you even want to stay at this point?
Terrible time to be lookin lol, but yeah
PIP? “Paid Interview Period.” Start looking.
Maybe, but it should just buy you time to look for another job. I suggest putting a list together of ways you have not been supported by the agency/team/manager to have for defense. Make sure you ask for specific examples when they list ways you have not been performing. Say you do not agree with the feedback and do not sign the PIP.
I’m in an at will state, not sure any of that matters.
no. just be glad you got the warning — usually creatives are just let go
I've been on PIPs three times in my career. And while I was never fired, I should note that a) they were each for behavior, not performance and b) in two of the cases I took the cue to find another job and did so. I would say that in receiving your PIP if you were not presented a path to get out of it, it may be out of your hands. I see you mentioned "personality stuff" as partially the reason they PIP'd you. If there is any chance at beating this, I would definitely fix that asap.
Good luck.
Bad attitude, passive aggressive comments, off-putting demeanor, off the cuff comments completely inappropriate for a workplace (but not subject to immediate termination). I'll add that for my first ever PIP, only did I get out of it but was later promoted the same year. I've seen enough PIPs on others that it's not an absolute precursor to a firing but it really depends on the circumstances and your own ability to navigate the minefield.
Probably not. Put all the effort you’re saving to salvage this job into finding something else.
I’m not called Paid Interview Process for nothing
Almost never.
They’ve made up their mind and don’t want to pay you any severance.
