Nootropics?
Anyone try them? Do they work? How do they compare to adderall?

I tried many -racetams and my brain just doesn’t like them even at the smallest dosages. I feel huge brain fog to the point where it’s not safe to drive and I can’t speak without sounding mentally challenged. Noopept worked once (extreme mental clarity and able to remember how to go back home without GPS even if I have zero sense of directions) and then it gave me the same crazy brain fog of racetams. Same with too much caffeine. I just go into overdrive and crash miserable 2 hours later. Only sleeping through the night removes that. Same with Modafinil even if it REALLY kept me awake. Not sure wtf is with my brain. L-theanine meh. Very subtle to the point where I’m not sure it does anything. I tried Rodiola Rosea once and it made me feel great (and a bit manic). Never worked again after that. Ashwaghanda is probably the only nootropic that gave me the desired effect (adaptogen) but still a slight brain fog. This is a normal side effect though. Melatonin helps too to fall asleep. ALCAR works pretty well, but very mild. Alpha GPC was a huge help in lifting my brain fog but the effects kind of faded after a few weeks.

Then after a few years experimenting with all this crap, I realized I might have had ADHD. I got an official diagnosis and was prescribed Adderall. And oh. My. God. This changed my life. Literally. At a measly 5mg XR every day I overcame mild depression, never get distracted at work anymore, got a huge promotion and feel overall more gratified about everything in life.

Interestingly, Vyvanse has the same effect on me as racetams at the smallest dosage (even having the content of 1/4 of a 10mg cap). So weird since my brain responds so well to Adderall.

Did you get also the weird side effects I got?

Nothing over the counter (supplements) will be as effective as a controlled substance (Adderall).

That said, in my biased personal experience, nootropics are a bunch of hooey.

I personally like adderall better. I agree with A1, but different strokes for different folks. You can see how it works for you.

I haven't ever tried them but I Have always been curious. I am commenting to folllow because I am curious about the responses of the people who have tried them.

Modafinil is ok. Not comparable to vyvanse or adderall but I take it at like 4am and it tides me over a couple hours before an rx. Helps avoid a stimulant crash too early in the day.

I haven't tried it yet. Is it a similar with Adderall? My doctor told me that if something is working fine for you don't attempt changing it because your body will try to adapt again to the substance of the medicine.

Ladies, love to hear your thoughts. I’m in my late 20’s with a handful of close gfs (most of them live far) but I have a history of losing girlfriends. I’m self aware to a fault and am very supportive/responsive but other than my core group, it’s hard for me to keep gfs around other than 6 month span. It’s happening to me again right now and it’s really hard, she’s going through something and pulling away/towards others when we have been VERY close before. Anyone else have this experience?

Curious how other marketing teams like to share resources internally. I'm considering creating a centralized hub where departments can access news, branding information, logos, premade materials and basic templates like letterheads. I'd also like to be able to give specific users access to specific things (ie I don't want everyone to have the logo vector).

Any suggestions or thoughts? Know any software for this? My instinct is just to build a website or page with logins, but open to options!

Additional Posts in Lawyers with ADHD

I have ADHD and it is affecting my family life. I forget commitments I make to my wife literally SECONDS after making them, and it is so defeating to be so consistently unreliable. At work I have enough systems set up to help me keep up with my deadlines etc, but struggle to find solutions for home life. Any tips? I am not medicated yet, but am not against starting. I just don’t know if it helps throughout the day or only for a few hours. TIA 😭

I haven’t been able to get any work done for like a week due to feeling anxious and unfocused and strung out. I’m taking 15mg xr aderall but I feel like my seasonal depression is just rendering me useless. I can’t even get the momentum to email my doctor for an appointment. I feel like clients are calling and following up, things are getting worse the longer this goes on and I can’t seem to snap out of it. Just me? Advice?

What are the side effects of a small dosage of Adderall? I am thinking about getting tested, as this bowl has made me realize I may need to be. What has been keeping me from doing so for years was fear of being put on medication, but now I feel like although I’m almost 40, my career would vastly benefit from being diagnosed, or at least ruling it out.

For those of you who take medication in the morning, when do you take it? I usually take mine when I get to the office, but I’m starting to feel like that’s cutting into my workday productivity. On days when I don’t have a full workload, it’s very (I think way too) easy for me to blow off the entire day either reading news/social media and doing other things not relevant to work. I also have a habit of wanting to focus on anything but what I need to get done. Can anyone relate to either or both of these and possibly a sign of ADD/ADHD? I have an appt with my primary care doc next week but been curious about this tendency of mine for awhile.

I have a prescription for Vyvanse. Even without Vyvanse, I have diagnosed generalized anxiety. On top of that, depression runs in my family. It’s not a diagnosis, but I suspect it’s there. Vyvanse certainly doesn’t help the anxiety, especially when I’m coming down off it for the day. I want to ask my doctors about an anti-anxiety/depression meds, but does anyone here take ADHD meds and those other meds at the same time? I’m worried about the drug interactions/potential physical effects. TIA.
