How about both? While white dudes tend to sometimes be hypocritical in their efforts, let's assume good faith in their posts because the cause needs support and voices from everyone.
If white dudes are in positions of power...and we need people in positions of power to advocate for diversity...who exactly do you think you’re asking for help?
Like anyone is actually hiring anyone right now let alone a diverse work force. It’s much easier to just have your existing staff do the job of one and a half people each until they burn out than hire a reasonable number of employees for the account
I’ve had at least 3 conversations with men in private who think this whole movement is BS, so I’ll take public LinkedIn posts endorsing the movement thank you very much.
I’d love to hear what woman think about it. Sincerely.
Everyone wants to hire more female CDs, but nobody wants to do the work to support female CDs, including revisiting rigid traditional working hours, work-life integration policies and nurturing women through motherhood and beyond.
It’s not hard to find talented women. It is hard to add new headcount in most agencies. That means that, at best, a “diversity hire” only happens when someone voluntarily leaves AND the agency chooses to replace the FTE rather than making people work more.
@SD1 my point is it seems more like PR than actual follow through if you look at the creative departments of the guys posting
OP, do you suggest they fire their teams and start over? If not, the change you’re looking for won’t happen in days, weeks, or months.
I think it's awesome.🤸🏼♀️
It's not hard to hire more CD level women. They are waiting in your creative recruiters' inboxes....being ignored. They may have a different agency background, probably have not worked at the bro shops, and their books may look and sound different (which doesn't mean they are not talented). Stop acting like it's so hard to find talented women...and that you're championing a movement. Schedule some meetings and talk to them about their experience. Don't just skim resumes for the same five shops and a list of awards. That's all saying. But totally do post on LinkedIn about how you are boosting the 3%...but only if you really are.
How about we move beyond just white men and white women and get some real diversity going? POC. Let’s really blow some shit up, Cindy! I feel like I’m working in a private grade school/high school
Not to mention referrals often take priority over recruitment efforts. So even if the recruiter is making a good faith effort to find non-white Male alternatives (which many are afraid to do in any meaningful way), the candidates are still stuck in line behind a mostly homogeneous group of bros referring their other bros.
