On a client VDI working with 1-2 gb of data (couple million rows) and no access to anything outside of ms access and excel. Normally I could get creative using office with my real hardware, but this VDI is so slow - any tips to increase performance (e.g. only using one screen, closing all other apps, etc.)? Or can I do nothing if the VDI virtual memory (<8GB RAM) and two core CPU just suck ?

I joined a project that had already started and the team already settled on creating a user journey map, even though none of them are designers or in ux. I also have no experience in this field as I'm a data engineer. The user journey map was for mapping out the process for tenants finding housing assistance, so not a technical product. Given this new field and type of work, I've been having a really tough time. Anyone mind sharing what helped get you through your first ux project?

Started at a big firm in July with high hopes- in the career path I wanted and I would be joining with other new grads.
After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. The training is non existent, there doesn’t seem to be any initiative to invest in new hires, my manager scolds me for not knowing enough yet gives no direction.
