Don’t care. LinkedIn is the new Facebook anyways
I hate… to agree with you but I do.
I’m tired of the veteran space as a whole. These big nonprofits just create research to identify a perceived problem, raise money off it, don’t solve the “problem,” and then move on to the next one. Cheapens the value of the vets who are doing well almost makes us all look like charity cases. I don’t to be in a protected class, I’ve been out almost 15 years moving up in the corporate world
Vet nonprofit space, especially in DC, is a business. And their business is making money off of fabricating crisis. I wish this conversation could be had more on LinkedIn to shame the people, but I’m not willing to get lit up at work so I cowardly type away here ha! I guess I’m just feeling a little spicy today. It’s been a long week
Generally agree but as someone who lives and works in DC, I've been around many vets who did the full 20 years. Transitioning to the private sector IS a big adjustment. You're used to military norms and depending on your MOS/Rate/AFSC looking for threats everywhere. I've seen these vets (and those who only did a couple terms), and the military is their whole identity. They may have been a part of certain campaigns and it's difficult to relate to civilians whose biggest problem of the day is the barista messed up their coffee. Many vets struggle with both social and workplace adjustment. You cannot run a team the same way you did in the military. You WILL get multiple HR complaints. With that said there are many veterans here, DC in particular, they are doing just fine in their careers. Their problems are like everyone else's, they just have the additional military baggage if their experience in the service was particularly stressful or traumatic or otherwise transformative. Anyway just my $0.02.
I got so fed up that I went through and blocked the top 5-10 biggest offenders, and it helped a lot
