One of my paralegals is moving into a new home next week. Any ideas for a thoughtful housewarming gift?

A food delivery gift card (DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc) is always a good idea if they are in an area where they can have things delivered easily. Otherwise, I love gifting things like nice candles, hand towels/kitchen towels, hand soap/lotion.

Excellent idea. When moving into a new home, the first few nights are hectic cuz cooking appliances are all in boxes 🤣

If they did not previously own a home my go-to is a ladder. I have also bought a hose and reel a couple times.

If they've previously owned a home I usually just do a Target or Home Depot gift card.

A pay cut. They can’t afford to lose their job having just purchased a house. Real opportunity to right size their salary.

I had a great review and a 5.5% raise and a great bonus at my company. But I also got a new Director and a peer manager of mine left the company, so I will be absorbing her team. In addition, my director said I will be receiving 'deep delegation' from them. I don't mind more work, but deep delegation is a new term I've never heard. What does that mean lol?

It is in appropriate to ask what the compensation for a position is after a first interview if they want you to go on three more and the interviewers on my first told me that was above their pay grade to tell me?????

Seems kind of ridiculous for a business to want to waste so much time to find out after a handful of interviews that the pay isnt aligned with my needs ......

I can see in biglaw not bringing up knowing damn well if you get an offer itll likely be high, but this is a midsize

I'm in a litigation, about 9 months in. Is it normal that I spend majority of my time making bundles for my partners (printing, binding, moving docs in a different order whenever there are new documents or he wants to add stuff) reviewing documents and making tables (e.g. dates, which documents are from where), and the only legal work is like notices of admission, list of documents, the occasional research? I'm so bored and I want to quit but I don't know if I have unrealistic expectations.

I’m not naive or fresh out of law school, but I’m at a point where I’m saying to myself “Why can’t I have it all?” I’ve been offered a job for more pay and less hours and I keep thinking to myself, what’s the catch? I know people will say no promotion potential or that’s not how it works…but what if it could? What if you make yourself valuable by still setting your boundaries? Why would we resent someone who has that opportunity?
