Every time I speak to my director (at least twice a week), he works in how he is getting older into the conversation(humorously). For instance, he forgot something non-work related, said “sign of old age”. He recently told a story, said, this is how old people talk. He likes to come across as a grandfatherly figure, but I’m not sure what to say in these encounters. It is always an innocent, non work related context. Have you guys experienced this ? What is an appropriate response ?

The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. Hello! I’m currently a Administrative assistant now working at a major medical system in Baltimore. I’ve previously worked for 10 years as a medical assistant in a variety of specialties and primary care. Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit stuck as to my next step. Part of me want to go into management, another part is saying go get your RN, and the other is saying go into Social Work. I’m all over the place. Any ideas? How would you handle not getting a lunch break when you are a salaried employee treating patients for 40 hours a week? I don’t get documentation time either, but all notes are to be completed the same day. HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped.
