Out of curiosity, do you plan to stay in immigration law for the duration of your career?

I have been in advertising roles in media and account for the past 1.5 years but I really want to make a career move to PR because that is what I studied and where my passion lies. I know the market is really tough especially here in NYC. Do you recommend I apply for Account Coordinator Roles or the next level up? I don't have formal PR agency experience but I have experience from my education and in house internships, and general agency experience from my current and past roles Thanks!

Did a first interview with hr rep, went very well. she set up the hiring manager meeting for a few days later. Met with the manager. Another great conversation, went over time and was told I’d hear back about panel set up. Following day I get a request from hr rep to “continue the conversation” with manager. This is set up Tuesday.
Why do you think the manager wants to meet again? Good? Bad? I felt great about the interview when we ended.

It seem like the two biggest immigration firms are severely lagging behind in compensation while other larger firms with immigration practices are pushing up comp.

I’m new to the immigration practice, and recently submitted an I-129 for 15 H-2B landscape workers. I knew the deadline would be close, but I convinced the client that we could take the chance. The cap count was reached after we submitted, so no approval. Is there any other avenue to bring over those workers or is he screwed?

If a PWD is about to expire and you want to post at least one form of recruitment to save it, does the NOF count? Or does it have to be the SWA, Sunday ads, or one of the other 3 pieces? Regs aren’t super clear and my googling is iffy at best.

BIA Briefs: I’m an associate at an immigration law firm. I determined that immigration isn’t for me So I gave the managing partner my 2 weeks. He wants me to wrap up some BIA briefs before I leave however I’m reviewing the record for a lot these and I’m seeing that a lot of the arguments for Asylum, Withhold, and CAT are incomplete. How I’m going to argue that the IC abused its discretion or misapplied the law when we made a facially insufficient argument for relief?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of working as an immigration attorney for a nonprofit?

Starting a new job as an immigration attorney with 4 years of experience at nonprofits doing USCIS filings under my belt but I’m making $75k at a firm with 3 partners, another associate, and about a dozen support staff. I can’t tell if I’m being paid enough but they are covering my health insurance premium, bar dues, CLEs, and AILA dues. Am I being paranoid?
