Hello All, I have one question. I was a fresher and joined one organization as external employee with third party payroll. I worked as external payroll for 1 year then I became permanent employee of organization was working. When i was a fresher my salary was below tax slab so my external exployer did not generate any form 16 for me. When tried to switch my new organization wants me to submit form 16 as BGC process. Will my offer get reverted?Cognizant Tata Consultancy HCL Technologies Accenture

This is silly, toxic, and not normal. I never understood the logic behind gatekeeping associates even when they’re slow. Like, as a partner, why wouldn’t you want your associates to be busy, productive and making more money for your firm?

I mean, if it affects your ability to get a bonus, it’s not fair.

I deal with this, too. Number 2 to a partner with just one client who ebbs and flows. Just do work without that partner knowing. Reach out to those partners yourself. Explain that you primarily do X but eager to learn Y.

Is this the head of your group/practice? If not, then it’s off, and I would mention it to the actual head.
Not normal and makes you vulnerable because it gives a disproportionate amount of power to this one partner to make or break your review. If he’s actually a stand up mentor then no issue but I don’t think that would be the case based on how you described them.

This is designed to control your time and income, not help you. I would transition away from working with this partner.
I personally would talk with the practice head and discuss this in a neutral manner. Just be careful to not speak negatively of this hoarding partner in case they are loyal friends of each other.

How sr is the partner and how good is their book? Are there other associates they do this to?
Not that senior. Nope they let others work with whoever they want to while still giving them work
Definitely not normal. Some relevant questions though: do you like working with this partner? Do you like the deals that you work on with the partner (ie, are you getting good experience)? Does your firm have a minimum hours requirement or does this arrangement affect your ability to make hours and get a bonus?
You need to advocate for yourself especially if this will cause you not to meet your hours.
If he has the power to do this even if you express interest in working with other partners, leave.
Are you me lol
Sure
I haven’t found a solution though so

Just curious, how do you know the partner said that to other partners? He told you himself?
For me, I had suspicion and then two partners confirmed to me that
