Hello, what is working in retail banking like at JPMorgan Chase ? Specially the branch manager role. I’m looking in the Columbus area. How is pay, culture, benefits, sales environment, meetings, etc. How easy is it to transition from retail banking to corporate. I hear the Polaris campus has great opportunities, I was thinking about getting my foot in the door through retail then transferring to corporate ?

So sorry. At elementary school they immediately tattle on each other.
This 8th grade is kind of like a 4th grade 🤣 they love to tattle, but sadly not regarding destruction!
Same. Some kids that have been in my room this year have been a product of the pandemic. Impulsive, careless, and culpable as they've been doing what they want whenever they wanted for the past two years. They have to unlearn these bad behaviors. I put each table (color coded) of kids in charge of their supplies. I have 9 tables with 4 kids at each table. I have three sinks so three tables are at each sink. Each table is dismissed only when 1) supplies are clean and put away 2) tables are cleaned and dried 3) They are sitting and quiet at their table in their seats. I do not dismiss them from the door. I check the sinks five minutes into clean up. Abandoned brushes in the sink mean all tables who use that sink stay until they are cleaned up. After the kids who didn't make the mess have to clean up after them doing this a few times they WILL rat each other out and they will be more wary of the usual suspects. I divide jobs up into 1) Materials Manager 2)Table Duty 3) Sink Duty 4) The Returner/Floor Detail . If they do not follow through, I keep them until they rectify the situation and don't write a pass for the next class making them tardy. If they clean up early, I let tables who do well out 1-2 minutes early so they can use the bathroom or go to their locker. They've done so much better with this system in place but it took a lot of time and sticking to my guns. On Friday, I had kids ready to go but they wouldn't sit back down so I just stared at them until they did.
You can also take away the electric sharpeners as punishment because you don't trust them and only give them hand sharpeners. After doing that, they will wish they had the electric sharpeners back.
Over the years when I have a class like this, I resort to paper work. We don't use art materials if students can't respect them. I know it isn't fair to the kids who aren't destructive, but it isn't fair to me or the taxpayers, either, when things get destroyed. I'll do that a week or so then try a small art project. The kids end up getting mad at the ones causing the trouble and you can eventually weed them out.
Have you tried monitor positions? Won't help everywhere, but I find making a student responsible for keeping their peers on track and filling in for their short comings at least saves most paintbrushes.
Another solution is to take away supplies for just the indevidual mistreating supplies. This may work better with younger students, but have issued middle schoolers a reading writing assignment when I couldn't trust them with clay.
Third idea make them work towards earning something as a class. For example a ceramic project, and withhold the privilege if they don't shape up. (Music is also a good shorter term motivator)
Chances are you've already tried a lot of this, and it's really unfortunate that your students are showing such disrespect for you supplies. My personal pet peeve is when they trash the watercolor palettes.
Do you do awesome charts for each student or as a whole class?
I have caught some students when they attempted to ruin materials, including the tables. Since the tables were scratched before I got hired, I have to monitor closely. It’s like they see scratches and think it’s their duty to add to it.
I have had to remove the use of materials temporarily from some classes. If they don’t respect what is given they have their pencil and paper only. I have also had writing assignments in replace of project based. A hard lesson in tough love. Phone calls and emails home as well.
Oh I've done that! If students aren't safe with scissors i make them tear the rest of the day
Maybe it's the army in me but the last time i had this Happen was 5 years ago and that student spent 2 recesses cleaning my very dirty clean out sink with a toothbrush. Sure my admin chewed me out later but kids need real consequences to actions. Most already know it was "not agood choice" and calling home anymore postscript don't care unless it's gonna cost them money
Yep, I just find a way to fulfill the standard for those students with reading and writing instead. If it persists they are out to a study hall or another room. Just don’t tolerate it anymore.
Ok so this post was from long time ago but it popped up in my feed again. I just caught a 4th grader putting my highlighter in the pencil sharpener! I’ve always cut him some slack because he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer but this time I banned him from touching any of my supplies without asking first.
