Lmao. Not gonna lie GTs vacation policy is a legit reason not to work there
Not sure I'd call it petty, but....
My interviews were more than 30 years ago with Big 8.
The Director of Recruiting at Deloitte Haskins & Sells simultaneously offered me a job and called me stupid (yes, he used the word stupid) and questioned my value. Go figure, I still remember his name. Definitely made that one an easy choice to remove from my list.
Never interviewed with Peat Marwick (now KPMG) because there was a guy in my class who interned there and he was a douche. I guess that one is a little petty 😀
I live in NYC and I won’t work for EY because the office is in Times Square. it’s true we hate tourists.
I won't work at Plante Moran because in college a few people called it "Plante Moron" and I'm insecure about my intelligence
I won't interview at KPMG bc its KPMG
@PwC 1 - “Flexible Time Off”
They market it as unlimited vacation. However, i don’t want to work somewhere where the amount of vacation I take ends up being part of my performance metric.
I want to be able to take the amount allocated to me just like everyone else.
I wont work for Protiviti because a manager told me they are only interviewing exceptional candidates when she turned me down back in college.
PwC 1 it is Flexible time off, which means you can take “as much vacation as possible as long as you meet utilization target”. It also means, yes we don’t accrue vacation and you won’t get a penny when you leave the firm
I won't interview with RSM because McGladrey didn't even bother sending out emails to candidates they decide not to take back when I was interviewing in college. Unprofessional and shows that if they treat recruits like that, it's only gonna get worse.
It’s not petty
All big4 people so high and mighty that they are better than RSM and GT
I didn’t want to interview at BDO because my boyfriends ex hookup through college works there 👀
People who know - “No” BDO
I won’t work for Moss Adams. Because 1. They said they weren’t sure I could pass the CPA because I had a C in a class. 2. The hired people who clearly had D’s on their transcript 3. They offered my friend an internship then a month later receded it because they “accidentally” put her resume in the “yes” pile. 🙄
I almost refused to work at PwC because the campus recruiter for my school was a total douche and insulted me because my gpa was ONLY 3.3 my junior year.
Recruiter got replaced my senior year and here we are
@OP. Utilization target can be crappy. But most markets you work so many hours in PA anyways that’s you never have problem with utilization. For the record I took 5 weeks off in the past 12 months. Still got promoted to M1. But yes, if you’re looking for a place to duck and hide from work and still get what you’re “entitled” to. Then don’t come to GT lol
Funny as I said I wouldn’t work for PWC as they seemed the most stiff when I was in college. They actually pretty chill some of them.
Won’t work for RSM and Grant because they too close to big4 without being big4.
Wont work for Berdon because back in college I told them I wanted full time, they offered me intern. When I tried to correct them the partner said that I wasn’t clear with what I wanted. I proceeded to forward him the email where I specified i wanted fulltime. Did not hear back after that lol
I wouldn’t interview anywhere with unlimited PTO either. We all know that’s a farce
I’m pretty sure Netflix, LinkedIn and GrubHub all have unlimited FTO. Not sure why GT is hated for having it too...
All of Silicon Valley is moving to unlimited vacation, so why does GT suck for offering it? The only time it would be used against you is if you don't do your work and take a ton of time off. Otherwise, why worry? I'm in talent reviews, so I know what's being discussed and what's not. So you don't get a payout - I get that. But this is what every other company is moving to. So you can rage against it, but it's futile.
I won't interview with a lot of firms because they don't have work life balance.....
