Want to negotiate salary at an AMLAW200 firm in atlanta. Not a lot of public information about what peer firms (ie, not NY lockstep firms matching cravath scale) pay. What are mid-senior level associates making in Atlanta?

Though my current company is an mnc but not that big and no work pressure is there, amazing work life balance. Seeking advice: I am a young sales consultant and sales engineer working for a tech startup company. I have 6 years of sales experience. And I have been helping run my family business for the past 10 years. I was intially interviewed for a senior account executive position at a $70k offer. Instead they told me I needed more training and hired me as a Junior account executive at a $50k salary + commission. Today is my 6th month mark and I have done very well. I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

I started a job less than a year ago, and I am certain that this is not the work I want to be doing in the medium or long run. How soon is too soon to leave?

Hi All, just sharing what on mind to vent it out from my system. Maybe with this I could gain some insights and inspiration.
I have been working as a data scientist since 2018 & have been the bread winner. I have neither been under a proper mentor nor with a team of peers from my field to help me out. I was alone and confused. I have never really got the chance to prove myself which makes me all the more depressed. I'm not sure what to do with my future, indecisive and low on confidence.

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!

My Senior Manager quit on us a couple of months ago, now my manager just did as well yesterday.

I'm in a small firm, where there is no one with tenure anymore. The new Senior Manager just started and does not know the clients either.

Last busy season was hell because we were short staffed (only 3 of us), and I fear that next one will be even worse because we are in a market where we do not have a ton of people we could hire.

This feels like a new job and I'm not liking it at all.

I’m in an interesting dilemma. Very interested in leaving my company, but I am also going through IVF. I know most new jobs require a year wait before you can go on maternity leave. Does anyone know a great company to work for that does not require this? Im sure people have seen the anti-Asian violence that’s gone on in the US. I have several colleagues who are Asian American that I’ve been friendly with for many years (in some cases over a decade). I know that at least some are extremely nervous about things right now. Have people in similar situations said anything to their colleagues? I’m not a very sensitive person and am really not good at this type of thing, but I really want them to know we see what’s going on. Any thoughts appreciated.

All this talk about firms doing stealth layoffs has me spooked. Any BigLaw firms in Dallas doing this? I’ve noticed some surprising associates leave my firm over the past couple of months and suspect at least some of them were ice-outs…

Is it a fail of character leaving biglaw? I want to leave, but despite the constant stress and suffering, I can’t avoid feeling like it’s my fault or that maybe I’m over exaggerating how I feel. All my colleagues feel ridiculously happy, I’m the grinch one that’s never enjoying the grind (but the grind is hard and competitive, very competitive) :( any thoughts? Is there future after quitting biglaw so young?

I lateraled to a new firm and feel like I was extremely mislead during interviews. I’m absolutely fine with burning whatever bridges I’ve made here. Contemplating a no-notice resignation. What downsides am I not thinking of? New job is lined up.

I recently lateraled into Big Law. Most of my colleagues are homegrown. My shift did involve a big change in practice area, and there's work that I haven't done before that I now have to do.

But, sometimes I feel stupid here, even for work which I have done previously. It's like I'm unable to understand instructions the first time around. And I have seen my colleagues getting annoyed by that. It's like I've become dumb. In my defence, I could say they're giving half assed instructions.

I cried at my desk for the first time today. Year 3. I’m tired.

Did first set of redlines for a partner. Have ten years experience doing what this partner does but I am new to working with him. Said I did about a 7 out of 10 on that job. Not sure how to feel about that. What say you all? :) Keep in mind I asked for a 1 to 10 because I cannot talk to him about it for a week or so.

Has anyone else felt like they were blindly drinking the “kool aid” about their PG/firm’s culture? As a 5th year associate who has only ever worked in one firm and has no point of reference for different “cultures”, I sometimes wonder if I’ve been brainwashed.
