Starting off my career as a tech adjacent generalist (strategy, project management, etc). I doubt I'll ever be a software developer or something, but I want my long term career path to remain very closely tied to tech. Anyone have tips on what I should be doing now in light of that? Started in Tax 1yr ago but was pulled onto PPPConsulting project 10 months in. After PPP I can’t see myself going back to tax. I’ve become interested in healthcare and eventually want to do MHA and go into hospital leadership. Just interviewed for a FA position at large nfp hospital system but also debating shifting to D’s OT health consulting group. I’m a CPA and dk what to pick. Insights? Need to move b4 tax busy season. For the folks who do freelance work, do you do more consulting / advisory (get on the phone and talk) or project work (deliverable based work)? What are your thoughts on a platform that focuses on video-conference based advisory work - and not the bid on project type of work?

How do you get experience when no one will hire you? I wouldn’t mind hanging a shingle but I feel it’d be irresponsible to do so with no experience. Unlike all of my classmates, I never landed an internship/externship in law school - had only one interview. I was a PT law student, came from a CS background, and worked in IT throughout law school.
