Did you take it off or is the company closed? Regardless, I would discuss the timeline and see if there is opportunity to deliver a scaled back deliverable by the original due date or adjust to accommodate the full scope.
Would be very hesitant to work over a break (especially if the company is closed) bc you’d be giving them extra work for free and would make it easier for them to ask that if you going forward. Always easier to set a boundary early than to go over one and then have to scale back later.
✌️see you Jan 2nd
I would say you work for Amazon. I worked all week last year for a EOY launch. It sucked, I spent the next 5 months interviewing and saving up enough to quit.
Lol I would say no! If the project isn't finished by Christmas, the deadline will just have to be extended. There's not much I can do.
I can’t tell that to 250k amazon sellers depending on Xmas sales for their livelihood and their families. But sure enjoy your break.
Gift them “A Christmas Carol” and quit

Then that’s too bad for them. Now, obviously don’t say it like that to their face 😂 but a break is a break.
Seems like an issue of timing, expectations, and planning. When did you request time off? When did your mgr say this? What’s the deadline / launch date for the project you’re referring to?
I’d ask a lot of why questions to push back (e.g. “Why am I just hearing about this now?”). If you’re salaried and the proj due date is after you get back from leave, then I’d say you have room to stand your ground (assuming you’ll be able to complete it even with PTO).
