Probably the most funny thing I heard today. I’m refinancing a building (interest rate sucks, but is a different post) but I had lunch with banker who said, essentially: “I can’t meet their terms, but you’re going to the prom, and the homecoming queen hasn’t said yes, so don’t hope for that. So if you want to go, ask the best looking broad you can find now. Otherwise, at the last minute you’re either not going or you get the ugliest one left.”.

He didn’t know or didn’t care I’m gay, by the way. But it was still funny. And true. And I got his point.

Wow! Did he really say “broad”? So inappropriate in business and otherwise. Speaks of a lack of sophistication and self-respect.

It’s actually funny. My grandfather used the term all the time: that old broad. One can’t really call a young woman a broad.

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?
