Already left Deloitte lol, got laid off last year

Fund accounting is soul sucking. They have in office policy as well, so you’re literally there so the front office people can look down on you

Need the monies, hated audit and cruelty at find admin firm so need to leave this toxic place. Why would front office ppl look down at me?

Not sure about that group in particular but the people I’ve worked with at Blackstone have all been very sharp. Sometimes they are a little intense, but it’s a definite pro to be working with smart, driven people.

I am going to throw my hat in there. Fund accounting is not as bad as everyone says. Yes, it's repetitive, yes it's soul sucking sometimes. Blackstone is demanding but if you stay there for a year, it could open a lot of doors. I have worked at funds and funds admin, fund admin in NT has some busy days and other days it's not bad at all. I love tax more, far more but fund accounting is paying the bills. Some shops out there offer remote opportunities in fund accounting as well. I interviewed with Blackstone but they needed too many hours and I have a baby now.

Con: hard to find a different job after, fund accounting is a bit specialized

Yeah but job market is tough and don’t think anyone is hiring rn. Took me 6 months to land a role at SS&C fund admin after getting laid off from Deloitte last year

Hear they work people to the bone, which seems to correlate with why I get recruiters messaging me about joining so frequently.

Damn… I’m cooked

Heard Summit office is good- good culture and real estate is not bad either. Honestly working hours are only crazy during first week of the quarter close- other days you can leave by 5:30/6pm max.

Help- my FBIL is refusing to rent a tux for our wedding because he already owns one. It is a different tuxedo. We would like everyone in the same tux, which I don’t think is crazy to ask for? It’s not a financial issue and it’s not some sort of weird style. 11 other men will be in the rental, it will be obviously different. We’re paying a lot for formal pictures and while this isn’t a tragedy by any means, it is upsetting to my fiancé and I, especially as we ALWAYS go with everyone else’s flow.

Hey Guys. Regarding the forced layoffs in PS. It’s high time we unite and hit them back. I’ll request all people who’ll receive the video connect email from PS to do one important thing. Use a a pen camera or a hidden camera(small) in your pocket before attending the call and record the call and events. These peoples should not be spared. Try to get some evidence and let’s expose to public media and other legal teams. You can do this anonymously thereby saving others from this crap.

I grew up in a nuclear family away from extended relatives who were never really close. Parents were either emotionally unavailable or distant. All I've wanted for myself was a big loving family to call my own.. my parents are unaccepting of my sexuality & my partners family is also quite fucked up so she's isn't super close to them either. Honestly this sucks & it feels like I'll never have a huge supportive family I've wanted & craved for.
