Hi all, recently laid off from KPMG from their ignition Tax Tech team as an Associate with 1y 8month of experience. Been rough trying to find a new job so thought I'd try fishbowl to see if I could get a referral to get back on my feet in the Tax Tech space.

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. Anyone willing to share how much they are making as an Mri technologist in Chicago? I know downtown pays better then suburbs. I work in one of the big university hospitals and make 40 per hour. I have masters and 6 years of experience. I recently learned that a new grad who doesnt have his state boards yet has 39 per hour. A coworker experience of 20 years gets 50per hour. Not sure what to think of their weird pay scale. 🙂

Hi 👋 Nice to have this bowl here! I’m a CPA with 5 years experience in tax who recently realized that I can’t stand doing compliance anymore. Decided to get my masters in CIS and Data Analytics to pivot into tax tech originally but I am afraid I won’t use all my newly learned skills if I stick with tax technology in Big4. Do you code at all in tax tech? Or is it lostly macros and Alteryx?

Want to brush up on SQL and Alteryx on my own and I am in the market for a new laptop. Any recommendations on a laptop can can run these programs smoothly?

Anyone have a good XML viewer/editor that has a grid view? I’m trying to mass review and update tool names and annotations for a number of very large Alteryx workflows. I think an xml editor with a grid view will do what I need but I’m also open to other suggestions if you have them.

How does one try to learn Altyrx with no experience and no (current) access to it? I work at a small firm and am going crazy with so many inefficiencies in repetitive tasks occupying myself and my staffs time. I’d like to self learn and try to come up with concrete solutions to pitch to the partners but want to know what I’m talking about before I do. Any thoughts & suggestions are welcomed.
