You can also roll the excess travel time hours into your project snapshots.
OP & P1 - the hours over and total hours go to vesting service hours, actually. If you take your excess travel and all the other stuff, you are actually probably booking well over 2080 hours annually. When you hit that 2080, you vest for the year in 401k, Wealthbuilder, etc.
Nope. But it's hours over target
Use excess travel for the time OVER 8 hours - otherwise its a ding on utilization as a filler.
If you are working, book it to your client code, you get utilization. If you aren't working, you charge excess travel excess travel does not count towards your utilization. But it does show up in hours over, which is how they measure overtime. Not sure if that metric actually maters, but it's tracked.
On all of my projects so far, you can only charge travel time to a client if you are actually working. So you might need to check with your project
@C1 bad idea, you can't bill then for your travel, unless you're actually doing work during that time.
PwC 1, can you please elaborate?
You can charge travel time to client... Use your best judgement and hit any remaining travel time to excess
I've asked for clarification before and it seems there are a lot of unwritten rules that no one talks about. It makes it frustrating for people that come from industry and know nothing about how consulting works. Thank you for all of the responses, this has been extremely helpful!
Define "actually working"...😉
