Hello I got a confirmation from HR at Shell that I have been selected for a role and there will be background checks before joining the company. He said the mail will come from a 3rd party vendor for the background verification. It has been 1 week and there has been no mails till now. Is it normal? Should I follow up with the HR again?
I'll be joining tw as UI Lead, soon.
I'm a javascript/react developer since inception of my career & haven't worked much on CICD/JENKINS and similar technology.
Should I be worried that as a lead I don't know these and will it affect by job security?
Ps- I'm good at UI,js, react etc.

How’s work life balance in forensics?
I am a Senior Consultant on EY’s Digital Forensics team. Our team has been growing rapidly recently and we are looking to hire some folks out on the west coast, specifically for our SF and LA offices. We are hiring at the Senior and Staff levels (including entry level positions in LA). If you are interested in learning more about EY Forensics or learning more the position feel free to reach out!
PwC 🐠, I interviewed with the firm about 6 months ago for a Senior Associate position on the forensics team. I wasn’t extended an offer because the position was given to an internal transfer, at least what I was told. I tried reaching out to the recruiter I worked with last time but the email bounced back and wouldn’t be delivered. I was hoping to see / reapply if the group still was looking for seniors.
In your opinion, would it be best to reapply as a cold application?

I’ve requested rotations or transfer information at my current firm but there isn’t a forensic team in my office and they’re not sure when there ever will be one. My last discussion was that they aren’t sure they can support a virtual rotation in the Covid era which just doesn’t sit with me for some reason.
Everyone says once you make senior you have more say in requesting a transfer. I don’t see it changing the current situation though.
I’m scared to make the jump but I keep coming right back to this situation: job searching for forensics roles. I abhor my audit role because I feel like I can’t actually audit anything. It has been far too unfulfilling and I feel like my little bit of skill set is wasting away with time. The seniors try to explain away everything that comes up they also only ever use one specific method of testing and sampling, etc. So, all those other methods that I’ve learned are wasting away. I’m frustrated. I can’t tell if the frustration is what’s unhinging me or if I’m being somewhat reasonable with myself and should actually just make the jump. I already have my CPA and plan to work on the CFE after busy season.
I know I want to be in fraud/forensic investigations specifically so I’m planning to avoid general postings for forensic accountant or postings that are for family law.
Are there things I should be considering? Size of firm? Or other attributes?
PwC 1, would you mind sharing your insights with me as well?
I’d recommend asking to have a discreet conversation with someone in your firm’s forensic practice. Audit and advisory practices are usually siloed to the point that discretion is no problem.
I started at B4 in strategy and wanted to move to forensics. I was told me raising that was a CLM, and only after I put in my notice did they ask if I’d consider a transfer. Most firms are smarter than that. Just be careful to make it a conversation rather than a demand—egos are easily hurt.
I’m at one of the firms you described. Happy to discuss anonymously over DM if you want.

What firm? How many YOE?
Working through my second year. I’d rather not say my firm but to be more specific mid-tier: GT, RSM, BDO.
