Random question but have any of you been to Kansas City? My dad wants to go for his birthday and I need restaurant recs!

Went to HS in suburban KC - Overland Park, KS. BBQ is definitely the big thing. Hopefully your dad likes it. I’m sure he’s heard of the Country Club Plaza. Some good restaurants there. For upscale BBQ go to Fiorella’s Jack Stack at the Plaza. There are some other locations as well. Best BBQ in my opinion is Joe’s KC, though traditionally Arthur Bryant’s was considered the he best (Calvin Trillin famously wrote an article about Chicago BBQ that said he was rating them on a scale of 1-10 where 1 is worst and 10 is Arthur Bryant’s of Kansas City. For very good BBQ and cool setting outside go to Woodyard BBQ.
I don’t get back enough to really know restaurants generally. I usually make my trips there a BBQ pilgrimage. We loved Jasper’s for Italian years ago, but it’s not nearly as good any more.

I just moved to Austin from KC! I agree with Counsel 1 that Joe’s KC is the place to go for BBQ. I’m also a fan of Q39 and Jack Stack. If you want a cool upscale place to go for drinks, check out Prime Social (even T-Swift and Travis have spent some time there).

Agree, Q39 is also a good choice. So many to choose from

Just restarted stimulants and already I'm dealing with twitches again. Does anyone else get these? No type of pain or anything just every once and a while my body will twitch strongly. Afterward I feel normal, but it's a bit annoying, and I can't control it at all which is a little disconcerting. Don't remember this from when I took stimulants as a kid, but it's been a while.

Once when I was waiting tables, I had a guy pay me cash. The change was 45 cents, which I didn't give back to him because like who wants that. He then asked where the change was, and when I explained that I didn't give back the loose change, he made a big stink about how dollars and cents matter and didn't leave me a tip. Does where you get your masters degree matter? I’m in an online environmental science masters program at an expensive “name-brand” school, but have colleagues telling me I should transfer to a less expensive program to save $ because no one cares about where your degree is from. Aside from the cost of it, I like my program, and the fact that I’m now connected to an incredible alumni network. And not gonna lie, I like the clout. Thoughts?

I’ve been approved for a transfer to the AUS office. Early 30s couple, no kids, small dog. Wife will work for the state but doesn’t have an office assigned yet. Looking for a SFH (that isn’t soullessly modern) in the 600-700k range that will suit our interests: walk to a grocery store, maybe a restaurant or two, commute to work in <30 min. Where should we look?

My partner and I bought our home back in 2020. We got a good deal, low rate. But we want to move into a more spacious SFH. However, as we all know this market is crazy. Everything we want costs $620k+ and bc of rates it makes our mortgage estimates $3500+. We are currently paying $2k. And it looks we need to sell the house simultaneously as look for a new one or our contingency isn’t as attractive. I know it’s based on personal circumstances. But what would you do? - not move, sell and buy?
