Realizing the pace I kept last year is not sustainable. I came back today already tired just thinking about the same cycle repeating. How are you changing how you work before burnout kicks in?

I’m not stressing myself out this year . Scheduling stuff ahead of time and taking it day by day .

I'm not, unfortunately. I've come to accept that the chaos and frenetic pace aren't going to change, nor is the stress they cause. I've either got to deal with that, as I have been, or find a new job, as I've been trying unsuccessfully to do for months. Maybe 2026 will be the year that changes.

I honestly don't worry about it. Part of me believes that people who talk about burnout are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. My job has deadlines, and a pace has to be maintained, but it's nothing untenable. It's just part of the job.

Trying to be slightly less reliable but within reason. You messaged me at 9? Sorry I didn’t see it till later and that’s okay

I’m actually going to push back on stupidly assigned projects.

Im fairly burnt out so im going to push for a promotion and focus on self care this year and just force a better balance

I take a day off or a vacation. Then, upon coming back, I become selective on jobs to take on and volunteering. If that does not help, the issue is a bit deeper (the need for change) and/or wider (bad culture in the company). Therefore, I would start with a plan to leave the place.

I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?
