Recommendations for a home office desk and chair? (Under 500)

I use the Bekant corner desk from ide ($300) and it’s sturdy and spacious!

ikea desks are good. spend <$150 and put the rest toward your chair

That’s a very good recommendation

Think you can use the health subsidy for certain stuff (standing desk)

I recently got a DESK-V110EW White Electric Single Motor Desk Frame for $240 on Amazon and a table top from IKEA (70). Now I am enjoying a height adjustable desk. I was inspired by standing desk YouTube videos from a guy called David Zhang.

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.

So here are my questions.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.

When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks in advance!

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. Suggestions?

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

Is anyone’s company offering to pay portion of your rent as home office expense? Especially if company is no longer paying for commercial office space?
