I wish I was able to develop my networking skills earlier on as it’s such an important skill for career growth
Communication, soft skills, thicker skin. And if you have a good boss and company that care about you as a person, that's worth more than an increase in salary to become just another number somewhere else.
Made the biggest mistake of my career thus far taking the last point for granted. Never underestimate a great team environment
The gift of gab and I still dont have it. I’m running into a wall where the people above me talk without doing and the people below me do without talking. I prefer to just say what I mean but so many people seem to think the loudest, or most talkative, in the room is leading and if you’re not you’re not leading.
Negotiations for salary
Salary negotiation for sure
Effective communication. 100%
The skill of not giving a F***k and managing work output to not be an i et achiever. don’t pay for 40 hours of work and expect 80 hours of work for same pay. Now I do exactly what I need to do nothing more nothing less. Life is way to short to slave away for possibilities
Depends on what kind of worker you are I essentially do a 3 person job (due to attrition) in 40 hours I’m very efficient and process/solution oriented so I get more done than some of my peers on top of raising my hand for side projects that still get done in 40 hours. Also helps to have a manager who can rely on you and trusts your work, my current manager is very big on not overworking when it’s not a fire drill.

How to spot two faced back stabbers that got promotions off the back of my deals.

Leadership. I've always been a very happy independent contributor, definitely NOT a follower, but with the idea in my head that other people are not my responsibility. It's something I'm actively trying to work on, since leadership roles are probably where I'm going to have to go if I want to continue to advance, and I don't want to half ass anything I do.
Networking and ability to be comfortable with small talk. I hate those quick minimal conversations.

The ability to say no, in a respectful and clear way.
Pretending to like sports, play golf, and drink scotch.

Learn to job hop for the bumps in salary & skills you learn along the way. Don't be loyal to the company. They're never gonna be loyal to you!
Upwards communication.
