Skip Phuket unless you want to binge drink with 21 year olds on the beach. Koch Samui is nice, as are Phi Phi Islands.
Bangkok is hit or miss. I personally loved it and could spend just 10 days there. Others find it too crazy.
Chaing Mai is great but that’s too much for just 10 days. Would advise 1-2 nights in BKK at the beginning, Head straight to the islands, then come back to BKK for another 1-2 nights
Go to chiang mai!!
following...
Conrad BKK is solid although Waldorf looks nicer. Love the Conrad Koh Samui to disconnect for a few days- would highly recommend.
Marriott Surawongse is great!
JW Khao Lak an hour from Phuket is amazing.
I did New Years 2017/1018 in Thailand. I thought Bangkok was overwhelming, but enjoyed the major sites. Agree on 2-3 days. I loved Chaing Mai - easy flight there fr Bangkok, manageable size, mountains are lovely, had a great visit to the Elephant Nature Park (the best, very ethical) and a fun zip lining tour. Le Meridien is close to the Night Bazaar, walkable to the east gate of the old city and the lively Sunday Market. You could do 2-3 days there easily. I stayed at the Westin Sukhumvit, Sheraton across the way looked better. People at the Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa were wonderful, pool is enormous, but the beach fronts a coral reef, which is super interesting, better suited to snorkeling than frolicking in the waves. Heard amazing things about Koh Samui, will go there next time. So you could hit all 3, but if you want to be more leisurely I’d pick 2 of the 3
I used the Hilton property in BKK and loved it and used Renaissance in Koh Samui and it was really cool. I think Chiang Mai is worth it. You can knock off Bangkok in 2 or 3 days.
Meridien in Chiang Mai, W on Samui both good options
Do you recommend Koh Samui or Krabi?
