Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

There is a really good video on LinkedIn learning about how to handle this. LinkedIn Learning is a paid platform, BUT most people can log in for free using their library card! Once you're in, look for the "Negotiation Professional Certificate by American Negotiation Institute" video series. You want the "asking for a raise" segments.
You should rely on your track record to ask for a bigger raise. Point out that you've been doing a good job, and management seems to agree with that assessment. And while you appreciate their apparent confidence in your abilities, you are expecting a raise in compensation to go along with the general show of support.
Have you tried to SME and classes or to become a TL? IF not do so, make it clean you're trying to move up. Assuming you work for a call centers, individual raises are nearly unheard of.
There are plenty of negotiation videos out on YouTube because there’s plenty of HR influencers that talk about that. Just go find the videos for negotiation. I would also find out what the actual role is, get the job description and the role description from HR and then go to your homework. Because if you’re in a role right now that they just shoved you into and now you have all this extra responsibility, you should be paid for it!
There's this video that I saw passed around a little while ago from an FBI negotiator, I think his name was Chris Voss, and he teaches you how to negotiate a raise based on his experience as a professional negotiator. I remember it being super helpful because he focuses on how to build a collaborative conversation when you're asking for a raise.
