Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?
My portfolio is killing me. Help!!!!

VLookUp? Damn I don't wanna work there anymore. Living that #IndexMatchLife
Also I've always wondered what the bar for being "good" at excel is. I've been told that I am but all I do is google what I don't know and then try and piece it together logically in the context of what I am doing. Let us know what it ends up being.
Why not test on google sheets? 😎
No idea but can you post up after what kind of questions they ask. Always interesting what different people consider "good at excel" to be
^good call pwc1. That's my other taweaway. Implicit acknowledgement that google sheets are inadequate
On the first interview they had me walk them through a vlookup which was easy enough.
That's a poor hiring criterion. Takes a couple hours at most to learn how to vlookup or index match.
If Google is asking about VLookup and it isn't a test for you to come back with Index Match then pass.
People Ops
Same here S&1. And personally I think that's all you need to be able to do but of course that doesn't exactly fit into the context of an on the spot interview.
As far as I know, our "excel" tests are done on Sheets. Google went so far as to give us small bonuses to release MS Office in 2015 in favor of GSuite.
Nice! Good luck! I just started the bizops process
Don't worry. If you don't know how to do it exactly.. just google it in front of them and figure it out on the fly. You're showing the exact use case for their product. Iol
@OP would love to know more about the people ops interview experience, potential role at google, etc. are you human capital? What level and service line? How'd you land the interview?
What group OP?
Good luck! Keep us posted
Even excel on office 365 is inadequate.
Will you have your screen up? That's so nerve wracking!
They shared a google doc with me that I will enter my answers into
Lol I was using my @outlook.com to communicate during the initial process and they kept replying to my @gmail.com, woops
