No point to raise hell. Your kid will be fine, teach them that what a good parent and responsible community member does in times like these.
Find ways to help and support, instead of adding another issue to the endless problems our underfunded schools are already trying solve. G&T is bottom of list right now, let’s put kids safety, health and education in general as our priority.

Lawyer up with a special education attorney and sue if necessary. Certainly contact a subject matter attorney. It sounds like your child should have a gifted IEP and that the district isn’t giving him an education suited to his needs.

Actually A1 an IEP can be created both for kids with learning disabilities and gifted children. So K2 was spot on. And bringing in an attorney is a smart move to make sure the parents and child’s interests are best represented and fought for

Don’t raise hell. Just deal with it. There is a global pandemic and people are dying and losing their jobs and having to homeschool their kids while they work. Your kid will be just fine in the long run.

I’m fully awake, thanks. I’m not saying don’t ask what metric was used but if it’s a kid limit you know you’re just asking for another kid to be kicked out. For your special little angel.
(If you really care you send them to private school and don’t have to worry about this kind of thing...)

I was in all the advance classes, let him be in normal all the advanced ones only do more hw with less attractive classmates

Disagree with D1. Ask your district what other option there is to get your kid into the accelerated class while following the protocols. Kids are already suffering this year because their education was so disrupted, so this move to the general class is just going to amplify this.
Pro
Why your kid though? I'd try to understand whether GT is cancelled or they only mainstreamed some kids....
Fight for your child’s education. There’s no reason these kids should not be in school right now.

Great, now I’m curious about your opinions on the Earth’s circumference as well. What the hell is going on around here?

Not throwing a fit, but considering other options for adequate education, long-term.

Is your concern that your child won’t be challenged enough by the normal classes? You always have the option to supplement with additional tutoring and activities to challenge them.
No, if the school offers AP classes and some kids are attending then they need to figure out how to include all kids who are slated for that. No need to pay out of pocket to challenge the child. That’s crazy. They already pay school taxes. No these districts need to figure things out and come up with better plans.
Is distant learning an option?
Chief
Distant learning is a joke. Somebody has got to TEACH and EDUCATE in order for kids to learn, preferably professionals who are trained to do so.
I get the protective mama instinct. How old is your child? I ask, because there’s a difference between being in the G&T program in elementary vs middle vs high school with respect to how placement will impact your kid’s academic career. If they’re about to apply to college, it matters a lot. If they’re in elementary, there’s time to catch up later. Everything is hard right now. Try not to raise hell, as it can get counterproductive fast. Ask your questions, work for what’s best for your kid, and try to recognize that everyone is doing what they can right now.
