Welcome to Consulting. Proposals/PRDs are a good spot to crash and burn. Projects are what matter.
I worked at Aon before Deloitte.
Welcome to the world of consulting! Woohoo!
Just because you think you don’t know doesn’t mean you can’t attempt at creating content - google is your friend. Proposals hardly skim the surface in terms of Subject matter. Better to try than to provide nothing.
Yep. Research and put some content in there, it doesn’t have to be the exact content on the first try, but putting something down will show you put some effort in. Get feedback and then most likely redo it. None of us analysts have any background, but often times we make most of the content and then just get told what needs to be changed.
Google, networking, and in-house resources are your friends. Better yet, if you can locate a “know it all” senior who loves listening to the sound of his or her voice and is actually knowledgeable, become “friends” with the person so that he or she will be your Consulting Siri . 👌🏼 networking
I draft a lot of proposals. Look at old proposals completed for similar projects and check if there’s a database for RFP responses (my firm’s marketing team keeps some standard responses for commonly asked questions). Then I send a draft to the leads and managers asking for feedback. It’s a lot of back and forth.
Also - I reached out to the product teams for their marketing material and input material from them into the deck. I guess I could’ve done more but it’s hard to “google” things when you don’t even know what questions are relevant.
