Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks

As an associate at McK, you make more than 95% of industry directors. You will have to accept a drop to go to industry.
The only way you get a significant raise is coming from Big4, where they’re severely underpaid compared to MBB.
Apply for big tech jobs in the US, that's where a lot of MBB go. I jumped from D as tech consulting manager to AMZN 3 years ago and now make $450k CDN total comp as an L7 working 45 hours a week max. Believe it or not, these jobs are in abundance and it's nothing special to land one.
BA 1 - no idea. Also, the original role I landed (sr product mgr, L6) was only available in Seattle since it deals with corporate ERP systems for the US and Canada so I doubt a similar role would be available there.
Are you comparing against folks in the US? Completely different market
It's really tough in Canada. There seem to be so many opportunities in the US where you can jump from MBB/T2 and see a 30% pay bump or something.
Would also love to hear of companies that pay more than top consulting firms here in Toronto, but am not aware of any myself.
I get MBB salary and the industry positions are easily a 25% pay drop for me. At this stage I understand that I get paid more as I work for US clients (apart from Canadian clients) and ready to accept the pay cut for better wlb.
Based on your experiences, would you say the banks/insurance are generally higher or lower paying?
Also if anyone knows any landing spots that do have good pay, would you mind sharing?
Thanks
I recruited a few years ago, but the info I was given for banks was in the 140-160 range for base, TC probably low 200s (director level). I’d say that was about average at the time. Unless you get lucky with big tech, I can’t think of any place that won’t be a pay cut from a post-MBA MBB comp (well, except PE and things like that).
I think in a few years we may see tech mature into similar pay brackets but agree, currently it's very hard to leave mbb/tier2 :(
Following. Wondering the same thing.
There are some very high level strategy roles at certain corps willing to pay that premium but these roles are few and far between. Majority of cases you’ll have to go to the US
Thanks for sharing
We hire Canadians and map them to US offices. With the currency adjustment and the inherent base pay and bonus we end up at MBB+ levels for Canada. Happy to chat if you’re curious about a jump
