What schools in Michigan did you check out? Is William Beaumont and Acension the 2? Because a lot of them go by what the ASCP requires them to have in order for them to train and produce a certified technician after taking your boards so they might be able to take you in but you will not be qualified to get your license so check the ASCP, board of registration under the certification that you’re seeking and see what the routes are available. I am a HT & a HTL, certified with ASCP. they used to be many routes but now they limit them because they want you to take a program that’s been certified to produce results because most hospitals won’t hire anybody who’s not licensed
Hi and thanks for responding. This is the info they gave me at UM and Oakland. They have a programme with Beaumont and Ascension. I’m currently at Henry Ford. They don’t have a programme
I would try and find a 1 year MLS program that is run by a local hospital?
Yes most of them I believe are on one year program at Ascension(main campus-Detroit) used to have that there. Good luck if not we’re always looking for a Good Histotechnologist and they’re in high demand now and you can specialize and get more money than you can probably at at MLS. again check with ASCP and see what route you can qualify for within your time limits and see what you’re interested in and maybe you can buy a new career. Oakland does provide good programs for a lotta lab type jobs and careers. I know that a lot of Histotechs go through there
