Make sure that’s covered. All the good stuff wasn’t included with my home insurance.
I’ve also heard home insurance not covering preventive maintenance on pipes. If they burst and your home floods they got you… if you need new pipes… good luck. Make it make sense.

Do you mean a home warranty or your homeowners insurance? Home warranty will probably pay to fix each time something breaks. Homeowners will pay for damage caused by a leak but won’t pay to fix the pipes at all. And if you have a water claim like that, they will probably cancel you

Agree with this
Make it a condition of the sale that the seller takes care of it.
If that doesn't work and you still want the property, bring in someone during due diligence and price it out. Then seek a credit from the Seller
And generally speaking, never bet on insurance to cover anything.
Just take care of it now
I would ask the buyer for a significant price reduction commensurate with the cost to replace and handle it soon. Insurance often doesn’t cover this type of stuff and warranties won’t either.

As a homeowner with galvanized I'd be shocked if insurance would handle it.
Take care of it now. Insurance most likely will not cover and your home warranty might not cover either if it’s preexisting and you already knew about it when you bought the house.
Thanks all. I will get the plumber in to do the repiping.
