Bro. That's every night with my kids, hotel room or not.
My advice: hit the lobby bar up for a dozen Bourbons. Six for you and rest to mix into some late night juice boxes for the fam.
You're welcome.
There are no vacations with kids. Only away games
Finally won the battle. Phew
I know the feeling. My wife and I try to keep thing as normal as possible. Light out and in bed by 7pm with a sound machine on. My wife and I will literally site in the bath room with the door closed and drink beer or wine and chat for 2 or 3 hours before going to bed.
By the way - love the bourbon idea
1. No naps (this is key if u want them to sleep early/quickly)
2. Pre dinner activities to tire them out a bit
3. Fill them up with dinner and 30 mins of reading/relaxing activity
4. Warm cup of milk
5. Lights out and they pass out in 15 mins
No reason to get mad.. they’re kids finding out their boundaries and a lot of new stimuli getting their brains going.
That being said get them their needs, lay some rules, prepare to use timeout, but then prepare to just cave and move them into bed or somewhere else to keep them quiet. Also a kindle paper white comes in really handy when the lights need to go out for your own sanity... and alcohol
A1 - why 2 years for a vacay? My 3.5 year has been on 50+ flights. 1.5 year old just hit 20. Totally worth it to travel with kids.
Agree. I’m in the same spot as BCG1, everywhere my wife and I want to go we take two kids with us as well.
Rather than spending nights out at the bar or late dinners we adjust our travel plans for the kids and make sure we spend time seeing what we want to see and part of the day doing things for them (eg aquariums and children’s museums)
We do both. Definitely travel without kids too, and utilize sitters on vacation so we can sample the nightlife.
Most of our travel with kids is 1) to see family 2) opportunistic e.g. Wedding in a cool/culturally significant place 3) cultivating love for our hobbies e.g. Skiing/camping or 4) to see/do things that are truly unique (Thailand, Florence).
😡 😡 😡
don't forget they're out of their comfort zone as well (not their bedroom etc)..i would suggest turning the lights on and asking them for everything they want done now before lights out..
Netflix dude, Netflix.
Patience. It's tough. We just got back from a week on the road. Only suites or adjoining rooms for us.
We use a white noise machine. - marpac. Then turn if off when thy’re asleep. Works ok for us
We only have the one two year old, when we have another, she will be 6 probably, and 8 by the time we do a vacation, hopefully 6 and 2 won’t be as bad...but yea we also had just the one room, so I Made a little fort around her bed so she couldn’t see us, turned off the TV and waited her out, luckily after playing in the waterpark all day, she was tired and zonked right out!
Another night time hell experience. So over this
OP - get another room. Pretty simple fix.
