Rising Star
I wouldn’t call Dallas a tourist destination, but it’s a nice place to live. Mainly it’s very spaced out. So staying downtown won’t give you a whole lot. Ft Worth is kind of cool and you get a “Texas” vibe in the stockyards, Joe T Garcia’s, Billy Bobs, etc.
Austin has quite a bit to do downtown and growing at an exponential rate. A long weekend would be fun in Austin.
Yeah I think we were leaning Austin, but just hesitated because Dallas is obviously a huge metro
Austin 100%
It’s a phenomenal food and (before COVID at least) bar scene. There’s also some great nature aspects like Barton Creek. Would caveat it’s probably not the best place to go now. Definitely a warm weather place so you can enjoy the outdoors, and until Covid loosens up a bit you probably can’t get the drinking experience you’d want.
I live in Dallas and enjoy it. Don’t visit here for a “fun”/long weekend trip, especially comparing against Austin
We took a 4 day trip and made the mistake of spending 3 days in Dallas and 1 day in Austin. Would definitely recommend spending more than 50% of your time in Austin - much more fun.

Austin 💯. I want to take the same trip bc I’ve never been. Heard the nicest hotel is four seasons Austin. Also check out The Infatuation Austin for restaurant recs

Here in Austin now for my first time in Texas from Chicago. 🤠 We’re still having fun despite the snow and COVID. 🤷♀️ We’ve worn masks everywhere we’ve gone in and stayed in a big AirBnB. 🏡 If it wasn’t record cold out, we’d be outside more. ☃️ In the meantime, we’ve eaten our way through Austin. 😋

Very cool 😎 thank you sharing 🙏 hope the food is good🍴🤤 stay warm it’s cold out there 🥶 ❄️
Austin because it’s Austin (not so much Texas). San Antonio for more of a taste of Texas (Marriott on the river walk is a nice hotel).
I say Austin. you don’t wanna miss going to San Antonio River Walk, it’s hour and half drive but worth it. FYI July is HOT 🥵
Thank you all!
I used to live outside of Dallas and wouldn’t really recommend it as a fun travel destination. Austin will have a lot more to do!
Austin, San Antonio, and Hill Country (west of Austin/north of San Antonio, places like Fredericksburg) would make for a perfect "taste of Texas" trip.
Austin! You get both nature and city. Lots of good food places to try as well.
Dallas was hard to figure out. Austin was easy. Austin for sure.
I’m from Dallas, live in Houston, and am 100000% planning a trip to Austin in the next month
Dallas has the Cowboys and the site of JFK's assassination. Otherwise not the most interesting
I spent a long weekend in Dallas and had a blast. Go to fuzzy taco, deep Ellum brewery, JFK memorial, a piano bar I don’t remember the name of. Plenty to do
Fuzzy taco is boom
Dallas is a blast for football weekends, if you’re a fan of the team playing. Austin might be more your vibe if you’re from nyc. Rainey street is a great starting point. But also fun options for river activities
Tourists love Austin, go there. It has better scenery for Texas and since it’s a college town there are cute things to do.
