Should my sign on bonus be included in the negotiations for a raise? Had a 10% base raise but my total comp only goes up by 3%.

You want a sign-on bonus every year? Unfortunately it doesn’t work this way this is why you generally prefer a higher base than sign-on bonus.

like

Seems they knew more about what was going on than you did. The comprime you made is that your base will be lower moving forward. It would be crazy to ask them to use the sign-on when calculating the raise that gets you past even that benchmark.

Are they offering you 88% now? Seems your math is off.

I think 10% in a non promotion year is excellent. I also don’t think your sign on bonus should be considered

like

The sign on was a compromise for not being able to meet the base.

Of course not. It was a sign on bonus.

The sign-on bonus is likely from a different pool of money than your base, so it'd be difficult to bargain using that.

Also, your comp ratio (in workday this is sometimes called PMR) is based off of only your recurring compensation, not sign-on bonuses - so it's likely that any raise beyond what you got (10% was a lot) would trigger some sort of automated alarm based on this ratio.

Total comp should only include recurring income streams.

Then it’s not total comp lol

you got shafted, bait and switch

Happy Wednesday everyone. I'm so excited, I have a recruiter call scheduled with @Meta for Administrative Partner position. I've been in my current employer role for 19 years and I'm nervous as heck. I haven't had to do an interview in so long. Can someone please tell me what to expect with the recruiter call? I'm assuming it will be mostly about the role, my skills and background? Do they ask salary expectations? I have no idea what to say for the salary question. Feedback appreciated. Thanks

I’ve given a detailed summary of all of my expenses yet every month one family member in particular comes to me for rent money (not some, the full amount, and they refuse to get a job).
