One advantage with Novartis is it is in my hometown. I'm thinking of joining Roche for now and then apply Novartis may be 2-3 years later for Asst. Manager role.

That’s about right for what they offer for a Principal role. There may be wiggle room in base up to $190K-ish, and you can expect a bonus between 10-15% at that level (although it varies, and isn’t in writing).
Job security is great, but the culture is dependent on the clients since you’re often embedded. As a Principal you’ll likely be across multiple projects, so Slalom’s internal culture is very good and people focused. The work can either be great or very boring depending on the market, they often over sell the “exciting projects” when you’re interviewing.
