At our wedding of ~150 we got about 10 physical gifts that people brought wrapped or in gift bags and about 50 cards? I wouldn’t worry about needing a ton of space for them but probably not a bad idea to just have a designated spot for a few gifts just in case.
We did have a registry, but all the folks who brought the physical gifts were local who accidentally got the gifts delivered to them instead of us.
Yes we still got a lot of cards with cash or checks in them despite having a honeymoon fund and online registry. We got a handful of physical gifts too. A small table sufficed. That being said, there were a surprising number of people who didn’t give gifts at all.
Yes people still physically bring gifts to weddings. I have been to several recently and have yet to be to one yet where there weren't physical gifts there from some of the guests. If you want to bring one you won't be the only one.
