This seems excessive, unless you’re interviewing for a position in which you’ll be able to implement said changes. I’d also keep in mind that your second interview will likely be with different people who may not be aligned with the first interviewer on what challenges/opportunities are within the organization.
I’d focus on getting my foot in the door and then helping change things from within. If I was your interviewer and you came in with 3 pages of notes on how to change things, I’d be majorly turned off.
Understood, thanks for clarifying! In that case, coming into the interview and recapping the challenges that were outlined, and then showing how you researched said challenges and learned about new technologies is great. You did your external research and are now able to better speak to these aspects of technology.
Do it but do it cautiously. It’s great to be hungry and excited and have ideas, but if this is something you had to research vs something that you can speak to from experience, be aware that the people dealing with it on the ground may not take kindly to anything that smacks of “oh, I can fix this by XYZ.” Show you have done your homework into the issue and that you are ready and willing to help tackle it vs just towing the line but don’t presume you’re just going to come in and fix it.
tackle the issue. I would like to present my research during my second interview. How do you all feel about this? Is this a good look or over eager?
I think it’s awesome that you did that! If you’re not sure why not bring your deck to the interview and pull it out when they mention the issue or if you feel like it’s relevant to the conversation. If anything you could send it in the thank you note later ?
From a creative stand point if you’re going to show something you wanna make it looks really clean and use only the condensed version of your notes - make like a 1 pager if you can. Otherwise if you’re not the best at making good decks, just speak to what you’ve found. You could shoot yourself in the foot just with the design... IMO.
Do it. It shows initiative. I’d keep in a doc vs a deck (but that’s totally subjective).
It could be polarizing but informative. You’ll learn a lot about what trying to drive for change inside will feel like. I’d have loved that insight before joining my latest agency
We’d love initiative like that. If the company doesn’t, then I think you have your answer as to the type of organization they would be to work for and you should run the other direction.
