So I applied to a job and the job description said a rate of 70 to 90 an hr. I was offered 70 and counter offered saying I wanted to know if it was negotiable and asked for closer to 80, not 80 but CLOSER. Instead of just rejecting it they said basically I should have been grateful for what they offered and rescinded the offer. I'm upset and not sure what to do.

$70/clinical hour does seem on the high side for being provisionally licensed, however the way they responded seems unprofessional. You may have dodged a bullet!

like

Look at the grammar. They even used “ppl” instead of “people.” You dodged a bullet.

like

I noticed that too. Very unprofessional.

like

Definitely dodged a bullet. They could’ve simply said that this is what we pay, would you still like to work with us? Their reaction was out of line. I asked to negotiate salary for a recent job offer, and they just said it’s not negotiable but that annual reviews can lead to bonus based on my performance and productivity. So I decided to still take the position. If they had rescinded the offer, that would tell me the place is toxic. This place is toxic and you will find something better.

You should call out the agency! To warn others.

I agree I was happy with the 70 but since it was the minimum from their perspective (it said 70 to 90) I figured why not negotiate but the way they responded which was what I was afraid was was upsetting esp as someone starting off their career in social work. I do have relevant other experience but not as an official social worker per se.

Run and don't look back, I'd wager.

Their grammar is unprofessional, their posting of a range between $70k-$90k was not honest, and they could have simply responded saying that they didn't think you were a good fit for the position with them without going on a detailed rant about your many alleged disqualifications. Ugh.

Keep on keeping on! 💪🏼

Hello, I’m an LMSW in Michigan. I have 15 years of experience in the field as a clinician, supervisor, and an administrator. I am feeling burnt out and unsure of my future. I have worked mainly in the Community Mental Health and the VA Health systems, hence my fatigue. I’ve flirted with private practice work in the past, but my spouse has been worried about not having affordable healthcare and benefits that each system provides. Is it worth the jump? Am I overthinking things?

Have you ever dealt with a colleague that believes in extremely (in my opinion) outdated or even just false claims and treats them as scientific facts? In theory I could see this working situationally, but as a whole philosophy regardless of the patient's issue I think it's ridiculous.
