Defensive much OP? Likewise for being recognized as a consultant you should know your performance YoY counts , the slate doesn't get wiped clean at the end of each year. The reasons for your PIP are actually factored in
IMO, more people who underperform for whatever reason should be put on PIPs instead of getting lumped into the 3 bucket because their superiors feel bad being the bearer of as news. This dilutes the 3 rating, which is in actual fact, not a bad rating at all. Case in point - OP was put on PIP, got his/her shit together and is back on track. Keep it up OP and best of luck at round tables.

If you've done that much BD I would recommend looking into sales/account management somewhere else. It's a similar skill set

There has to be a reason why you aren't getting staffed...did you curse out a partner or something? Do you not shower? Literally just being present will get you past the hurdles you mentioned
OP still hiding something about why he was put on PIP. We don't put staff on PIP just cause they are under utilized. OP must have really stunk it up his first year

Keep trying. Mind sharing why u got on to a PIP? Personal issues? Or rubbed someone the wrong way? One has to work as hard at getting a bad rating at EY.
People don't end up on PIP's as easy as you're making it. If you had 1000 internal initiative hours with 5 ratings on those initiatives, then utilization or not you wouldn't have ended up on the PIP. I think you are downplaying how bad you may have been on your chargeable work.
I had 0 utilization my first year and still managed a 3. There's something we're missing about how you ended up on PIP
