Never mix business with pleasure!!!
Check company's policy. If there are rules about dating and/or reporting structure, you may be in violation.
Why are you posting this with your name?
I would NOT go to HR until your friend gets his job, because he probably won’t get promoted once HR knows you are seeing each other. After that, you need to change jobs or departments/teams.
This is why you are required to disclose relationships at most companies.
Very likely one of you will have to move teams. It’s not appropriate to be managing someone you are dating.
Disclose the relationship to HR asap.
There's a movie like this lol it's called Fair Play
Most companies wouldn't allow it. You may want to transfer to a different department to keep from holding him back in his career and to avoid any friction.
It might not be awkward at work but if it ever ends it 100% will be… if you’re happy I would honestly keep it secret and try to move departments or jobs if it’s serious. Not the right or moral choice but if you disclose at this point he can lose his promotion or worse you can both lose your jobs and that would definitely add some tension.
