So I've been on the same project for 4+ years. Last year the prime contractor changed and therefore my employer/boss changed as well. Things haven't been as smooth because their communication is nearly non-existent.

Deloitte treated me as a program manager but this new company employed me as a manager. This means my direct boss sends out notices to other company leadership (subcontractors) without copying me. And i receive phone calls from my team members and have to connect the dots

I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). 2012 Sr Associate. Left my firm in February after being recruited by a partner I used to work for, and it turns out I’m not very happy. I’m not from an English speaking country but I am watching a tv show and businessmen walk into a room and instead of greeting eachother, everyone says each person’s first name in lieu of hi, however in my experience working in the states, I haven’t seen anyone do this, it’s always hi or good afternoon or some other greeting first THEN they say their first name. is it also appropriate to omit the greeting?

Curiosity question - I’m a naturally very chatty senior and I’ve noticed that the staff 1s who are starting remotely and living at their parents’ home (which makes a ton of sense with the remote working) that I’ve been working with seem to want to chat about both semi related work stuff and non work stuff a fair amount. If you’re a staff living at home, do you enjoy having seniors who will chat with you about random things or would you rather just get your work done and log off?
