It does not matter, 5 jobs in 10 years or 1 job for 10 years. Keep learning and try to provide value!
Why are you jumping so often? Genuinely curious
I definitely feel that. The worst place to be is somewhere you’ve maxed out in growth for sure
Has the pay increased significantly with the jumps?
Yeah more than doubled from first job to current one
If you are relocating jobs due to bad work conditions it’s hard to fault you on. If you are making rapid job changes to get a better salary/position/title then it can definitely look bad going for a higher tier position. If all the experience is in the same industry and you can speak to your time at each company you should be alright. I’d recommend having a solid answer to “What is your 5-10 year plan”. Otherwise your job history will speak for itself highlighting you don’t stay long.
It’s not “bad work conditions” per say, but i mentioned in a post above that it feels like a bait and switch. It feels like the longer I stay in this role the more I’m going to be pigeon-holed into something I don’t want to work in long term. Maybe internal transfer is the way to go lol
Too the moon sir! There’s no loyalty in consulting, they’ll always low ball you, up sell the client. Get your experience and move.
No one cares anymore, the time for employee employer loyalty has long come to an end. We all understand how business works. Especially early on in career I would very much recommend the job hopping approach to quickly level up your base salary
Disagree - jumping around can look like you are not doing well and that you wouldn't stay long if we hired you.
I would say it looks bad if you are not upgrading to a more prestigious firm when you jump. If you are moving to similar firms into similar roles it looks like you were not doing well and got pushed out. If you are upgrading firms and roles then it can look good. That does depend on the people looking at your resume understanding the firms/roles you went between of course.
