Some companies had these programs “quality circles” “total quality management “ or some other buzzwords, where they required the employee to create a project to complete with in their current position kind of an extra job, to increase output for the department and company. All it really meant was that they wanted extra work for the same pay. It was just meant extra stress on the employee, and in the long term didn’t really benefit the group. Some upper management muckity mucks got sold this pipe dream
