Grey 1 I maaaaybe agree. I just left a placeaftwe 5 months and went back to my previous job. But I started the process at 2 months, and I pretty much knew it wasn’t going to work at 3 weeks. At first I gave myself a 6mo timeline but life is short. Be where you want to be and do what you want to be doing. If it’s a matter of adjustment then maybe wait it out, but if the possibility to do what you want to do and bring what you want to bring doesn’t exist at job you’re at now, you probably don’t need to wait.
Why do I feel like we’re all at the same agency?
Talk to your hiring manager now. Make it clear that there’s a gap. Start looking so you have a way out. A future hiring manager will understand. Or just remove that bump on your resume. Life’s too short.
Same boat here. Been here 5 months, already interviewing somewhere else.
You must be a pirate. Ahoy
That was my life for like a year. Ask for better projects. Make your boredom (or “underutilization”) known.
I had a similar thing happen. Interviewed for something, started, totally different. A month in I flagged with my manager, they made some changes and now I’m still here two years later. I learnt to communicate early and often
If you’re watching the projects you think you should have been assigned to be given to others at your same title level or you think your assignments are beneath you... have you talked to your EP or HoP about what might be coming up? We sometimes end up with downtime between the juicer jobs where there isn’t much to do beyond the stuff we typically consider work for our juniors. A bit of grumbling, we get it done and then move on. Running out the door before talking about your expectations/project interests might be as much a disservice to yourself as it is to your latest job. You just got there - surely there was a reason you wanted to be there?
I’ve been there for almost 8 months. It’s brutal.
Are other people at the agency doing the work you want to be doing? If so stick it out a bit longer. 1.5 months is nothing. If the agency just isn’t right, start looking.
@DD1 that’s why I’m saying it depends on if the agency offers what this person wants.
Haha are we at the same agency? Been here 3 months and already testing the waters.
Holy crap, are you me? Same boat.
