Yes, do it. If it doesn’t work well the first time, don’t do it again.
Depends, SC1... You're probably assuming worst case scenario.
OP, it makes a difference whether your wife knows the city or has friends there and whether she's traveled with you before. 4mo can be fun in NY. Lots of parks, museums, etc. If you are staying in Jersey, it's a long trip to the city. If you're in midtown, it's touristy and imho doesn't have a lot of cool stuff close. Times Square is just no. You've got to visit it, but don't stay there. Financial District is dead after hours and on weekends (except Stone Street). Personally love the area around Union Square and Flatiron or near Central Park. Lots of food close, nice parks (for NYC), etc.
I know plenty of moms who travel with SO and LO. Why not us? Set clear expectations though. Eg If you crank 16s M-W
She'd be staying in the hotel with me assuming that's not against firm policy. Otherwise with family. My concerns are around productivity and a general understanding of experiences with this or best recommendations for how to handle.
Wife is currently not working FYI.
that sounds like a terrible idea. babies that age are a huge handful and she'll be away from all her stuff in a strange city with no one around.
What I hear her really saying is that she is currently overwhelmed and needs caretaker help. Perhaps find a moms group for her to join.
Appreciate the insight all. Thinking I'll try it out after a couple weeks to get settled and see how it goes. She has friends but they'll be working so don't know how much that'll help.
Anyone try this before? How'd it go?
