My ex-senior manager recommended me a website: Growceed.com which helped me a lot in getting clarification about a lot of things but I am in doubt whether the average salaries of software engineer mentioned on Growceed.com really that much in top MNC companies.

If you have to be in office 5 days per week live in Plano and commute to do the fun stuff. It can be an hour each way depending on the part of Plano, 100% not worth extending a 9 hour workday to 11 hours
Live midway if you can (think Addison might be a good option) - no point in ruining your commute completely during peak traffic hours just so you can live near friends.
This might be an expensive option - can you do a short term lease for a month or 2 somewhere to see if you’d enjoy living in uptown first and if the commute to Plano from there would be bearable? Or even airbnb somewhere for a week first before you decide?
I agree Addison is a good midpoint between Uptown downtown and Plano that way you can even avoid the tollway when you have to go to work
Live in Plano or somewhere in between. The commute from Dallas to Plano will not be worth it. I would consider Addison/Carrollton as well if you really want to be closer to the bar and club scene.
I know people who did that commute and most decided to move north after a year or two because there's not actually that much to do in Dallas proper. It gets old fast. But there's plenty of places to explore in the cities surrounding downtown Dallas.
One option for your 3 days a week commute can be to take non stop bus from Dallas into west central or east Plano stops .. it depends on where you live, do check out dart schedules
Don’t know how it is these days but 20 years ago I lived in oak lawn just off the tollway and commuted to Plano. The traffic was always the other direction, so it was a super chill commute. Took me 3 minutes to get onto DNT and from there I could fly.
If you leave Dallas around 7/7:10am the commute to Plano is manageable. Evenings is a different story. My manager worked with me (he lives on the east coast) so I tend to leave around 2 pm as my lunch break and head home to work the rest of the hours. If you have a flexible or hybrid schedule then you’re fine
