Startup offer. 7 years of experience but only paying 220 with significant equity share. Worth negotiating or is this standard? It is remote but the 50% paycut is a hard pill to swallow

Send that job my way. I’ll take it. I feel like I always lowball myself in salary negotiations. It sounds like a solid in house offer. What industry? What about bonus?

likefunny

Haha thank you. No bonus just equity

That’s pretty good for a startup.

like

Exactly, gotta go industry by industry with these and that’s very solid for a startup.

like

What’s the title? Do you have any reports? For anything sub-AGC at a startup, 220k + “significant” equity + remote (!) is a solid offer.

like

only paying? nice humble brag

like

what do you want us to say? get a better job then?

like

I think it’s standard and leaning more towards the generous side for a startup, but I would also consider the specific role and scope of responsibilities. If you’re running solo and expected to oversee multiple parts of the business, then I think you will start to feel very quickly that 220 is not enough.

likesmart

No bonus is really tough. Assuming hcol, it sounds about average depending on equity amount.

like

What industry?

like

Is it 220 plus equity or 220 all in?

And is it one time equity or refreshes every year or so?

like

What industry

What? Gimme. I’ll take it.

My friend just got out of a relationship and hooked up with his ex's best friend a week later. They're now dating and seeing each other everyday.
I couldn't help but feel like this wasn't an appropriate thing to do for both parties. He also revealed that he cheated on his past exes.

I'm naturally feeling a bit weary of his character and questioning whether this is a friend I want to keep close in my life. Perhaps I'm being too judgmental?
