I’m an associate who has been in my role for 1 year and am looking to change service lines. My plan is to get an external offer and then see if my firm will match, and if not, take the external offer. What is the best way I should apply for jobs? If you got hired at the absolute bottom of the payband, I gave my salary expectations which was unknowingly less than my offer a few months back, is it possible to renegotiate a raise to at least the middle of the payband, come the performance review, raises, and bonus meeting, especially given inflation? In addition my firm’s new base payband for my position as an external higher is posted at 31% higher than my current salary.

I went to take an on-site depo. I was taken to the small conference room. The court reporter, the witness, and the other attorney...all maskless! For the court reporter it was clearly a matter of principle (freedom etc). I told the attorney I need everyone in a mask. I’m on chemo and am battling metastatic cancer. His response, “So, I have one lung.” If I canceled, my client would have had to pay, so I made everyone wear a mask ( I had extras). What would you have done?
