Tough choice.
- Maccas; We’re talking retail strategy, so fast, dirty, and the challenge will be to bring rigor and strategic quality to the game. Limited opportunity to get strategic depth, unless you’re heading it up.
- Engine: can be a mixed bag.
- VMLYR; new CEO JP is a legend, and likely to have a people fwd agenda. Marrying experience and comms is probably an interesting place to be.
- Ogilvy; far worse places to be. You’re past the big group company smashing together so might be ok to stick around a bit.
Think the key question is why are you looking? Honestly I’m not sure I’d want to be changing jobs right now.
One thing to consider is that Brexit is only 6 months away. Intl businesses are still seeping jobs and footprint to the continent, so underlying COVID will be some UK agency revenue slip. Look at the client bases of the agencies to see which are more likely to be a going concern in 6 months. Maccas might not be such a bad shout.
Thank you, I haven’t really considered the brexit point. I’m a midweight so maybe Maccas wouldn’t be a bad learning curve. Doesn’t seem like many people stay beyond a few years though. VMLYWhatever new mgmt is interesting but I just found out they have no strategy chief. What did you mean by engine being a bit mixed, can I ask? These places are only a handful of ideas. I don’t think I’m going to get very far at the cool agencies.
